If you love golf you're gonna REALLY like this book! Written in an easy, conversational style by a man who tossed away a white collar professional career to be a cadie at Pebble Beach, "Yarns From Pebble's Caddie Yard" is a view of what life is really like in the life of a full-time, professional caddie. And I'm not talking about tour caddies...I'm talking about the real thing. Guys who get up every day wondering if they'll have work that day, to discover that they'll be looping for a rich multi-millionaire, a famous celebrity or...OMG...Arnold Palmer his ownself! You'll find yourself laughing out loud at some of the stories and fighting back tears at others. It's quite a ride...I think I'll just sit down and read it again.

Yarns from pebble caddie yard mr scott w houston 9781483975665 Books Reviews
I've attended Bing Crosby and A T & T tournaments and played Pebble Beach quite a few times and reading this book brought back memories and also gave great insight from the eyes and mind of a sensative caddy. This is a MUST read if you love golf, and Pebble Beach.
Another great book written about golf, Pebble, and life in general is "The Holy Land" which pertains to Pebble Beach and not the holy land that is now a war zone out of control....This was also written by Scott Houston...I gave both books a 5 star rating....both interesting and to the point.....Mike
The experiences that Mr. Houston relates in "Yarns from pebble's caddie shack" represent the culmination of great life story capped by experiencing golf from the prespective of caddying for the true rank amateur to being a true assistant to one of the greatest players of all time, Arnold Palmer. The short range of tales of people from great pros in many other fields to the fellow who just wanted to sit and watch the ocean bring out emotional feelings in all of us. Others(Plimpton)have tried to pretend to be someone else but Houston actually lived the life for a long time and was the real thing.
Definitely one of the best golf books that I have read.
Scott is a friend of mine. He started working at our course about two years ago. Right away it was obvious that Scott knew his way around a golf course. He is very quiet and reserved but when you talk to him you realize how clever and funny he is, always with a good story.
Nobody knew for a long time that he was a famous caddy at Pebble Beach. He never really talked about it. Eventually the word got out and it came to light that he had written a couple of books. "Yarns..." is a great read for anyone who loves golf. His insight and shared experiences are entertaining and will help your game.
