If you are easily offended or do not possess a truly depraved sense of humor, this story may not be the light summer reading fare you desire. As for the four feisty female freshmen stranded on top of West Virginia's third highest mountain, they have no choice but to experience the sick, twisted debauchery and perverted mayhem described deep inside the tight unbroken bindings of this horrific missive. Lumberjacked takes the reader to a nightmarish world where character development and aesthetic integrity are prematurely cut short by the swinging axes of maniacal lumberjacks, who are hell bent on death and destruction in the remote forests of Appalachia. And at the climax, when paranoia crosses over to the paranormal, Lumberjacked makes Deliverance look like a family raft trip down the Lower Gauley.
Lumberjacked edition by Rich Bottles Jr Literature Fiction eBooks
In his debut novel LUMBERJACKED, Rich Bottles Jr. takes us on a nightmare trip into Appalachia, where bloody death awaits at the hands of mountain-dwelling locals. But don't expect a hackneyed riff on WRONG TURN or DELIVERANCE here, as the twists and turns LUMBERJACKED takes go beyond mere hillbilly stereotypes--or common decency. The premise, however, is a classic slasher formula. A group of college freshmen--beautiful, nubile, college freshmen, I hasten to add--embark on a scenic tour of rural West Virginia, where they run afoul of a pack of good ol' boys possessed by the spirits of murderous lumberjacks. Buckets of gore spill in myriad, imaginative ways, but Bottles' brand of "humororrorotica" avoids being predictable with plenty of detours and misdirections, none of which can be described in polite company.
Bottles' style is as broad and crude as a dirty joke on a men's room stall (it makes Edward Lee's redneck stories look like Shirley Jackson--and I mean that as a compliment), packing his tale with kinky sex, unashamedly over-the-top violence, and ludicrous, VERY politically-incorrect humor. Yet he keeps the action moving smoothly and never fails to be entertaining.
For fans of backwoods bloodshed, LUMBERJACKED goes down like a fast-food banquet--quick, hot, and satisfying.

Lumberjacked edition by Rich Bottles Jr Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
After being hype about other people reviews etc, I was hyped about the novel Lumberjacked. However I got lost somehow and did not think being hype was worth it. Either I got mixed up with the lame characters, Story setting, or was fooled by the back cover of this book. It stared off with the four girls which was on the right path, then it switch I'm guessing 100 years in to the past, then it switched 20 years in the future, then it switched back to the present day.
At one point I thought the author for got what he was writing about. It seem as if jumping back and forth in past future and present made the book less about a group of Lumberjack men. That really really took the hype away from me to say the book was about crazy Lumberjacks. But close to the end it made somewhat since but not enough of a impact because the characters were lame.
Qaffy, the lamest character in the book, the ultimate repeater, could have been left out of this book all together!!!! I might have gave the book a four star if she wasn't in it with her stupid none humor catch phrase "Damnable finger nails are a pain in the ass" If you read this book you will see that line over used. The author could have drop her off at the start. That way would have been better than the way he used this lame character. (I'm not being raciest but its true. I'm the same race as Qaffy and I wish she would have dropped out of the story ahead of time.) Till her dying end she used that over used line "Damnable finger nails are a pain in the ass." The other characters were not better either but Qaffy could have just left the campus all together.
Some where in the mist of the story I must have skipped over a interesting part. I did not know that Mellisa's dad and that manger over the train station knew each other. I didn't knew that until the ambulance accident near the interesting ending(kinda interesting). But the dreams that the manager was having made sense to me at that part. Thats the only reward I got out of this book! YES REALLY! It wasn't because of the Lumberjacks but a managers dream.
Anyway. Yes rape is in this book. but not like you maybe thinking it. It did not get into heavy detail with it. It just says "and so and so got mounted" and it moved on. it didn't linger to much on the violent attack. One top of that i didn't really care to much about the characters to feel disturb. And what the heck was up with the black Casper in this book? He floated around just to hump some body and said GOOD LUCK YOU B%#CHES! I got what I wanted! Then vanishes from the stroy. REALLY!!!!!
Overall this book could have been better. They were lame moments that made the book feel like a B rated movie. Which is why I gave it a 3 out of 5. Use caution before buying this book! You might find it lame as well!
As it clearly states on the back cover "Don't Read This Book ... If you are easily offended or do not possess a truly depraved sense of humor."
I must fall into the category of people who are not easily offended and who have a depraved sense of humor because I found Lumberjacked both over the top, and still somewhat disturbing. The disturbing part isn't the violence or the sex as much as the thought that the West Virginia depicted in this work is unfortunately not distant enough from our own world for comfort. The humor is there mixed in with the erotic and the horrific, but it is very much a gallows kind of humor frequently seen among law enforcement, soldiers, and emergency workers trying to survive the worst mankind can do itself. I wish I could say that much of this work doesn't ring true to humanity at its worst, but Mr. Bottles has a sharp eye for both the humorous and the tragic, both of which are depicted in plenty in this story.
I was pleased that the author managed to pull off a couple of unanticipated twists in the story quite effectively. I saw all the patterns, but missed the inevitable connections until it was revealed by the author. There was a nice use of foreshadowing as well. I'm looking forward to reading the next works of the author.
To say that Lumberjacked is a page-turner is an understatement. It is a very sick, but very funny novel (if that makes sense) with highly-charged sexual scenes that would make Penthouse proud. It takes dark situations and splashes humor (and sex) at just the right moment.
It is a fascinating journey, exploiting stereotypes and situations that you sometimes suspect in your dark subconscious mind might (or could) happen and when you read Lumberjacked you find yourself saying "He's not really going to go there with the story, is he?" Oh, yes, he does!
Rich Bottles Jr does an incredible job tying in past, present, and future events in this story and a well-researched piece. It is a very clever book and one of the few that I actually reread immediately upon finishing it. The book is not dry, that's for sure. Is it a story about an old town in West Virginia, a handful of crazed lumberjacks, a train station manager, a sorority, or that of a college freshman? How are their lives connected? I won't put a spoiler in here, Dear Reader, that's for you to find out.
As for me, Lumberjacked is erotica-meets horror-meets gut-busting comedy all wrapped into one. It is an exciting read, but keep an open mind because it's explicit, gritty, and most of all, jaw dropping and axe grinding. Enjoy the ride!
