This book truly is a flower bouquet, with colors that span the rainbow. The way in which Denise captures each flower makes me feel like I'm looking at a room of pets, each with its own personality and voice. Denise has a skill for working with light and shadow, and uses it to draw one's attention to each flower's SoulEssence. (The calla lillies from this book are in the photo attached to this review, as part of a SoulCollage® card in the making.)It's natural to want to share our creations online. Author, artist, and SoulCollage® Facilitator Denise Bossarte has both raised the ethical bar and facilitated the digital freedom of expression in providing books with her own photos for use in mixed media and collage art. I think Denise's books are wildly creative, beautiful, and generous. It's fun to go on her journeys in each book and glimpse nature up close through Denise's "good eye." (Denise is a photographer trained in a contemplative photography process called Miksang. Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates to "good eye.")
While the intention of these books is to provide copyright free images for mixed media and collage art, I use images for SoulCollage® cards. In a group, having access to a table of copyright free images for card-making heightens awareness of and respect for every artist's -- thus one's own -- work, and also frees each SoulCollager to, as desired, publicly share his or her card without fear of repercussion or copyright infringement of the artist.
Image quality is exceptional, given these are reproductions. There is ample space on each page for cutting without accidentally slicing an image. There are 30 individual photos. Each book contains one larger and one smaller reproduction of each, making the cost competitive with royalty-free websites that charge for each download. You also save on printing or the need for a photo printer (and challenge finding photo paper good for SoulCollage® cards). The largest size almost covers the 5" width of a SoulCollage® mat board card (with a border). I like that each image has its own page, certainly contributing to the book's cost, yet nice for people who don't want to sacrifice any image to the side that gets glued down.
I was touched to be asked to write a review, moreso with books Denise chose and freely provided. The photographs do not jump out as striking; and, yet, as I slowly went through each, I was aware that Denise is an "inclusive" photographer (my description). Each photo showcases what we are often too busy to notice. The world of beauty becomes magnified through Denise's camera lens, down to the smallest ant. The variety of photographs is sure to please SoulCollagers. Anyone who has facilitated a SoulCollage® workshop or given a Training knows how each image becomes precious to the person to whom it "belongs." I learned that the style of photography Denise employs is Miksang, which explains what I sense in her photos individually and as a book theme. Denise gives voice and value to beings and life forms that are easily passed by or dismissed in our technological society. I was surprised, in the absence of animals or people, that many of the photos in these books already had a "voice."
Finally, Denise had offered a plentitude of her photos for free use by the international SoulCollage® community. Due to the unavailability of hard drive storage on either side, these books of precious moments and life forms were borne. Denise has blended fun and beauty with integrity and empowerment. There's a book certain to please everyone, and these are only the first volumes.

Flowers galore! Full color, gorgeous, lush. Denise Bossarte is a talented photographer. As a SoulCollage® Facilitator, I am grateful for any resources that involve copyright free images for my workshops and retreats. I also love that the images are only on one side, so I don't have to give up one image to use another. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.
I can create through Denise's photo books a sense of place, heat, cool, calm, chaotic, intimacy, distance. We get to look up close at the outlines, dark, light, shadows, contrasts, color shades of roses, cactus, lilies, insects, landscapes and create a mood in my soul collages.
You can tell she really sees and appreciates the wonder in nature, and captures the essence of what she is seeing with the camera eye. I like too how I can choose and cut out a photo without having to lose out on another photo on the backside....very thoughtful.
I can see and feel the care, thought and time put into the photography, editing and the layout, thank you Denise.
